Pornography

Richard G. Scott

"Satan has become a master at using the addictive power of pornography to limit individual capacity to be led by the Spirit. The onslaught of pornography in all of its vicious, corroding, destructive forms has caused great grief, suffering, heartache, and destroyed marriages. It is one of the most damning influences on earth." "To Acquire Spiritual Guidance," Ensign, Nov. 2009, 8

Thomas S. Monson

“Avoid any semblance of pornography. It is dangerous and addictive. If you continue to view pornography, your spirit will become desensitized and your conscience will erode.” Great Expectations, CES fireside for young adults, Jan. 11, 2009

Gordon B. Hinckley

"Suppose a storm is raging and the winds howl and the snow swirls about you. You find yourself unable to stop it. But you can dress properly and seek shelter, and the storm will have no effect upon you. "Likewise, even though the Internet is saturated with sleazy material, you do not have to watch it. You can retreat to the shelter of the gospel and its teaching of cleanliness and virtue and purity of life. . ."Now . . . the time has come for any one of us who is so involved [in pornography] to pull himself [or herself] out of the mire, to stand above this evil thing, to 'look to God and live' "A Tragic Evil among Us," Ensign, Nov. 2004, 61-62)

Dallin H. Oaks

"The scriptures repeatedly teach that the Spirit of the Lord will not dwell in an unclean tabernacle. When we worthily partake of the sacrament, we are promised that we will 'always have his Spirit to be with [us].' To qualify for that promise we covenant that we will 'always remember him' (D&C 20:77). Those who seek out and use pornography for sexual stimulation obviously violate that covenant. They also violate a sacred covenant to refrain from unholy and impure practices. They cannot have the Spirit of the Lord to be with them." "Pornography," Ensign, May 2005, 88

Quentin L. Cook

“Pornography is a plague that is detrimental not only to a person’s moral standing with God, but it can also destroy marriages and families and has an adverse impact on society. Internet addiction and pornography are both harming marriages. As you move toward marriage, you must not wear any masks that hide inappropriate conduct that will be detrimental to you or your marriage.” What E’er Thou art act well they part” CES Broadcast March 4th, 2012 BYU-Idaho

Boyd K. Packer

“Every soul confined in a prison of sin, guilt, or perversion has a key to the gate. The key is labeled ‘repentance.’ If you know how to use this key, the adversary cannot hold you.” Power to Overcome Pornography, lds.org

D. Todd Christoferson

“We cannot afford husbands and fathers who fail to provide spiritual leadership in the home. We cannot afford to have those who exercise the Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God, waste their strength in pornography or spend their lives in cyberspace (ironically being of the world while not being in the world).” Brethren, we have work to do. October 2012 general conference priesthood session.

 Jeffrey R. Holland

"Friends, you know what I know—that there is in the modern world so much sin and moral decay affecting everyone, especially the young, and it seems to be getting worse by the day. You and I share so many concerns about the spread of pornography and poverty, abuse and abortion, illicit sexual transgression (both heterosexual and homosexual), violence, crudity, cruelty, and temptation, all glaring as close as your daughter’s cell phone or your son’s iPad. Standing together for the cause of Christ.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“But be cautious. These same technologies can allow evil influences to cross the threshold of your homes. These dangerous traps are only a mouse click away. Pornography, violence, intolerance, and ungodliness destroy families, marriages, and individual lives. These dangers are distributed through many media, including magazines, books, television, movies, and music, as well as the Internet. The Lord will help you to recognize and avoid those evils. It is the early recognition of danger and a clear course correction that will keep you in the light of the gospel. Minor decisions can lead to major consequences.” A matter of a few degress april 2008 general conference

  1. Pornography is a horrible thing, and a plague on our generation. There was a time where Pornography was very hard to come by and we wish for those times, the omnipresence of this filth and the adversary's implicit use of it, is something we must watch out for and strive to overcome and never partake of. I am so thankful for spiritual leaders who tell the truth of pornography, that it cankers the soul, and destroys relationships and families. the world would make us believe that pornography is harmless and good, how lost would we be without the guidance of holy Prophets!
