“Are the heavens open? Does God reveal His will to prophets and apostles as in days of old? That they are and that He does is the unflinching declaration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to all the world. And in that declaration lies the significance of Joseph Smith, the Prophet, for nearly 200 years now." Prophets, Seers, and Revelators, Liahona, Nov. 2004, 8
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"Our Heavenly Father loves His children. He hears the prayers of the humble and sincere of every nation, tongue, and people. He grants light to those who seek and honor Him and are willing to obey His commandments. We joyously proclaim that the faith of our Father is on the earth today." "Faith of Our Father," Ensign, May 2008, 75
Quentin L. Cook
“Early European converts [sailing to America] . . . had overcome many stumbling blocks. They had a testimony that revelation comes from heaven and that prophets and apostles are again on the earth. They had faith in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. They had come to understand the sublime destination that was in store for them. They were not fearful of the arduous journey they were undertaking, and their ultimate destination was not really the Salt Lake Valley. Their true destination was paradise followed by exaltation in the celestial kingdom.” Our Fathers Plan ”Big Enough for All His Children, Ensign, May 2009, 37
Russell M. Nelson
“Even more amazing than modern technology is our opportunity to access information directly from heaven, without hardware, software, or monthly service fees. It is one of the most marvelous gifts the Lord has offered to mortals. It is His generous invitation to ˜ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Ask, Seek, Knock, Ensign, Nov. 2009, 81
Wilford Woodruff
"Every man or woman that has ever entered into the church of God and been baptized for the remission of sins has a right to revelation, a right to the Spirit of God, to assist them in their labors, in their administrations to their children, in counseling their children and those over whom they are called upon to preside. The Holy Ghost is not restricted to men, nor to apostles or prophets; it belongs to every faithful man and woman, and to every child who is old enough to receive the gospel of Christ." Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Wilford Woodruff [2004], 49
James E. Faust
"So how can we recognize inspiration when it comes? Enos stated, 'While I was thus struggling in the spirit, behold, the voice of the Lord came into my mind' (Enos 1:10). The voice of the spirit of revelation is not necessarily audible, but it gives us divine confirmation through our thoughts and feelings. As we are told in the Doctrine and Covenants, 'I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart' (D&C 8:2). We must cultivate our sensitivity to that divine voice." "Did You Get the Right Message?" Ensign, May 2004, 62
Gordon B. Hinckley
"How wonderful it is that we believe in modern revelation. I cannot get over the feeling that if revelation were needed anciently, when life was simple, that revelation is also needed today, when life is complex. There never was a time in the history of the earth when men needed revelation more than they need it now." "Inspirational Thoughts," Ensign, Sept. 2007, 6
M. Russell Ballard
"Joseph's wife Emma bore a testimony similar to Parley P. Pratt's in that she continued to be amazed at the process through which revelations came. Years after the Prophet's death she said: 'I am satisfied that no man could have dictated the writing of the manuscripts unless he was inspired; for, when acting as his scribe, [Joseph] would dictate to me hour after hour; and when returning after meals, or after interruptions, he could at once begin where he had left off, without either seeing the manuscript or having any portion of it read to him.' "Marvelous Are the Revelations of the Lord," Ensign, May 1998, 31
Julie B. Beck
"The ability to qualify for, receive, and act on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be acquired in this life. Qualifying for the Lord's Spirit begins with a desire for that Spirit and implies a certain degree of worthiness. Keeping the commandments, repenting, and renewing covenants made at baptism lead to the blessing of always having the Lord's Spirit with us." " Julie B. Beck, "And upon the Handmaids in Those Days Will I Pour Out My Spirit," Ensign, *!*May 2010, 11*!**!*
Dallin H. Oaks
"We do not always receive inspiration or revelation when we request it. Sometimes we are delayed in the receipt of revelation, and sometimes we are left to our own judgment. We cannot force spiritual things. It must be so. Our life's purpose to obtain experience and to develop faith would be frustrated if our Heavenly Father directed us in every act, even in every important act. We must make decisions and experience the consequences in order to develop self-reliance and faith." "Eight Ways God Can Speak to You," New Era, Sept. 2004, 8
Revelation I feel goes along so much with Prayer, we are all promised that if we follow the commandments and pray in faith we will receive the revelation we need. also when we marry and form families we can receive revelation for the guidance of our family. I am so grateful for the gift of revelation that we can receive from our heavenly father. even more important than that is the leadership we receive from the Prophet and Apostles, the revelation they receive for the church and the rest of us is so important. I am so thankful to have their guidance in a world that is continually getting worse and worse.
