“We enter into covenants by priesthood ordinances, sacred rituals that God has ordained for us to manifest our commitment. . . . If we are faithful, we become inheritors not only of the celestial kingdom but of exaltation, the highest glory within the heavenly kingdom, and we obtain all the divine possibilities God can give” The Power of Covenants, Ensign, May 2009, 20
Julie B. Beck
"All faithful members of the Lord's Church are equally blessed by priesthood ordinances." "An Outpouring of Blessings," Ensign, May 2006, 11
Richard G. Scott
"Be sensitive to the promptings of the Spirit in the use of that consummate privilege of acting in the name of the Lord through your priesthood. Be more aware of how you can make greater use of the power of the priesthood in the lives of those you love and serve. I am thinking particularly of individuals such as a widow in need who likely could benefit from the help of an understanding, compassionate priesthood bearer. Many such will never request help. Be aware of the range of challenges you could help meet in her home, such as the relief of anxieties through an inspired priesthood blessing or the need for small repairs." "Honor the Priesthood and Use It Well," Ensign, Nov. 2008, 46
Thomas S. Monson
"Ours is the responsibility to so conduct our lives that when the call comes to provide a priesthood blessing or to assist in any way, we are worthy to do so. We have been told that truly we cannot escape the effect of our personal influence. We must be certain that our influence is positive and uplifting." "True to Our Priesthood Trust," Ensign, Nov. 2006, 58
Gordon B. Hinckley
"There is no power on the earth like it. Its authority extends beyond life, through the veil of death, to the eternities ahead. It is everlasting in its consequences." "The Cornerstones of Our Faith," Ensign, Nov. 1984, 52
Robert D. Hales
"The priesthood of God gives light to his children in this dark and troubled world. Through priesthood power we can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to lead us to truth, testimony, and revelation. This gift is available on an equal basis to men, women, and children. Through the blessings of the priesthood, we can be equipped with ˜the whole armour of God, that [we] may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (see Eph. 6:11-18). This protection is available to every one of us.” Blessings of the Priesthood, Ensign, Nov. 1995, 32

Russell Ballard
"To honor our priesthood, and to magnify our callings in both the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods, is to receive the power of God in our lives. The Priesthood: A Lifetime of Service, New Era, May 2009, 2
Boyd K. Packer
"I bear witness of the power of the priesthood given to the Church to protect us and guide us. And because we have that, we have no fear of the future. Fear is the opposite of faith. We move forward, certain that the Lord will watch over us, particularly in the family." "The Power of the Priesthood," Ensign, May 2010, 10

"I was sitting with Brigham Young in the depot in the city of Boston at the time when the two prophets [Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum] were martyred. Of course we had no telegraphs and no fast reports as we have today to give communication over the land. During that period Brother Young was waiting there for a train of cars to go to Peterborough. Whilst sitting there we were overshadowed by a cloud of darkness and gloom as great as I ever witnessed in my life. . . . Neither of us knew or understood the cause until after the report of the death of the prophets was manifested to us. Brother Brigham left; I remained in Boston, and the next day took passage for Fox Islands, a place I had visited some years before, and baptized numbers of people and organized branches upon both those islands. My father-in-law, Ezra Carter, carried me on a wagon from Scarborough to Portland. I there engaged passage on board of a steamer. I had put my trunk on board and was just bidding my father-in-law farewell, when a man came out from a shop a shoemaker holding a newspaper in his hand. He said, 'Father Carter, Joseph and Hyrum Smith have been martyred they have been murdered in Carthage Jail!'
"As soon as I looked at the paper, the Spirit said to me that it was true. I had no time for consultation, the steamer's bell was ringing, so I stepped on board and took my trunk back to land. As I drew it off, the plank was drawn in. I told Father Carter to drive me back to Scarborough. I there took the car for Boston. . . "Next day I met Brigham Young in the streets of Boston, he having just returned, opposite to Sister Voce's house. We reached out our hands, but neither of us was able to speak a word. We walked into Sister Voce's house. We each took a seat and [covered] our faces. We were overwhelmed with grief and our faces were soon bathed in a flood of tears. . . . After we had done weeping we began to converse together concerning the death of the prophets. In the course of the conversation, he smote his hand upon his thigh and said, 'Thank God, the keys of the kingdom are here.' "The Keys of the Kingdom," Ensign, Apr. 2004, 29
James E. Faust
"Prior to the martyrdom, no doubt with a sense of foreboding, the Prophet Joseph prepared for his death. 'The Prophet declared that he knew not why, but the Lord commanded him to endow the Twelve with these keys and priesthood, and after it was done, he rejoiced very much, saying in substance, "Now, if they kill me, you have all the keys and all the ordinances and you can confer them upon others, and the powers of Satan will not be able to tear down the kingdom as fast as you will be able to build it up, and upon your shoulders will the responsibility of leading this people rest" "The Keys That Never Rust," Ensign, Nov. 1994, 72
What is the Priesthood you might ask? Why it is the power of God delegated to men to act in his name. With the priesthood we are able to perform ordinances of the gospel which allow us and others the opportunity to return to our Heavenly Father. Priesthood blessings are an amazing part of God's power. In this way we can take a part in Gods power and bless his children for their benefit.
